Client Profile
A Fortune 500 energy company seeking to strengthen collaboration, engagement, and organizational effectiveness across its communications organization.
Challenge
A newly appointed C-suite leader was tasked with elevating the culture and effectiveness of a large, distributed organization. While the organization was rich in talent and expertise, the executive recognized that unlocking greater collaboration and performance required a deeper understanding of how people contribute, communicate, and create value together.
Insight
The organization had already established a strong foundation of trust and shared purpose. The opportunity was to create a common language for understanding strengths and working styles, enabling stronger collaboration and more intentional development across teams.
Solution
ExecLead partnered with the executive and their leadership team to launch a strengths-based leadership initiative that aligned leaders around a shared language for collaboration, accelerated team development, and advanced the organization's vision of becoming "Better as One." The engagement began with senior leaders, creating alignment around a shared framework for understanding strengths, working styles, and team effectiveness.
Approximately 90 employees completed Gallup's CliftonStrengths assessment and participated in team-based workshops designed to translate strengths insights into practical workplace application. Through personalized strengths profiles, team strengths mapping, and facilitated discussions, leaders and employees gained a deeper understanding of individual contributions, complementary partnerships, and opportunities to better align talent with business need.
To sustain impact, strengths insights were integrated into coaching, employee development, onboarding, and team planning discussions. Leaders also began using CliftonStrengths data alongside generative AI tools to personalize coaching approaches, strengthen employee engagement strategies, and improve stakeholder interactions—embedding strengths-based leadership into the organization's everyday ways of working.
Impact
The engagement created a shift in how leaders and employees understood one another and collaborated:
Established a shared language that enabled leaders and employees to discuss strengths, working styles, and development needs more openly and productively.
Increased awareness of the organization's collective capabilities and where complementary partnerships could accelerate results.
Strengthened collaboration across teams by helping employees better understand how colleagues create value and contribute to shared goals.
Enabled managers to tailor coaching, development, and engagement approaches to individual employees.
Advanced the executive’s broader goal of building a more connected, engaged, and high-performing organization.
By translating insights into everyday leadership practices, the organization strengthened and advanced its vision of becoming "Better as One."
